Paint Horses of Course
I must comment on how well you have laid out this website with the "proper" idea and forethought that it takes to address the issues facing our wonderful paint horses in such a depressed economy. The prices of oil increase and with that, fuel for ag, then prices increased to us in our grain/hay production, making it harder again to achieve the "quality" paint that many expect at a "reasonable" cost.
I had some people come look at a few of my horses today for riding horses and they wanted quality with training(already riding for trail and broke to death type) and for a cost of $2500 or less. They liked their looks, but thought the price was too much for them to pay. I know it is a buyer's market, but when people are not willing to pay for what we have spent hours and time on (4 yr old with 3 months training that I have raised from birth), I am so discouraged, it is not funny.
I know now that I probably made at least the top 5 on both of your lists of things I did right and wrong in starting my ranch, but the economy now, with the legislation, has made things so impossible, it is hard to keep my chin up. I know the economy will not stay this way forever, and we must hang in there, but I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your attitude and knowledge, and share in your "passion" for our beloved paints.
Perhaps we will meet face to face one day soon, so we can gab about our favorite subject. Take care and keep in touch when you have a few minutes.
Sincerely,
Vickie
